Globus Toolkit と NTP

Globus において，時間の同期が取れていないと認証エラーなどでコマンドが失敗することがあるらしい．

FAQ には

GRAM Job submission failed bacause authentication failed: remote certificate not yet valid (error code 7)

GRAM Job submission failed because authentication failed: remote side did not like my creds for unknown reason

少なくともこの辺のエラーは NTP に関係しているらしいことが書かれている．

GT 3.9.3 GSI-OpenSSH : System Administrator's Guide には

GSI authentication is very sensitive to clock skew. You must run a system clock synchronization service of some type on your system to prevent authentication problems caused by incorrect system clocks. We recommend NTP. Please refer to your operating system documentation or the NTP Home Page for installation instructions. Please also ensure your system timezone is set correctly.

と，書かれている．

もし，既に NTP を使っているが，date コマンドなどを使うと明らかに時刻がずれている場合は，

# ntpdate [NTPサーバ名]

で直接時刻を同期するか，/etc/ntp.conf を正しく書き直して ntpd を再起動するのがよいのではなかろうか．
再起動の方法は，

# service ntpd restart
